Hi. This page is going to start off as a hodge-podge of stuff I am interested in and some links. As it evolves it may need some organization but not at the start. Lets start exploring.
9.3.06 Great News! I passed the written portion of my boards. Now the Orals.
8.2.06 I spend a little more than an hour each day in the car going to and from work each day. My preference is to listen to news in the mornings, but I like to have music in the afternoon. The thing I can not stand is that for the entire trip home each day the radio stations play one song that I don't like that much and then commercials for the rest of the time. I spend the whole ride checking each station on the "dial" up and down. In frustration I would just listen to NPR because they at least don't advertise. Today this all changed. I went and bought a SIRIUS Radio. When I first heard of satelite radio I thought that it was a silly concept that would be of no use to me. After Agni mentioned that she was going to get me one I could not stop thinking about it. The more I thought of it the more I wanted it to fix my problem of listening to commercials for my commute. Now it I have it and I am listenting to it now in commercial free bliss as I update the website. I love it.
Anyone who knows me knows that we don't have cable TV. Our lives are such that investing so much time to TV seems like a waste with the obligations of family, work and fun. Now not having cable I still know that M-TV does not really play videos like it did when I was high school. I still like to see videos and thought that it would be great if they archived the videos on their website. Well guess what they don't do...? They only keep a small collection of videos that they think I want to see. Some of them I do but some I don't and many of the videos I would like to see are not there. Very disapointing. VH-1 is not much better. I need to find a better website for videos on demand. I can not be the only one out there who sees a need for this. I would list the videos that I like and put a link to them, but who knows how long they will be there?
7.31.06 I have been at the new job for a month now. This is the good life. Here are Me, Joni and Luis having a respiratory treatment. We are airway experts you know....

I added a few pictures of my family in the photo page from the dinner. What a great time. The restaurant is in an old bank and we ate inside of the vault! Very cool.
3.14.06 Lowe Syndrome (LS) is a rare genetic condition that causes physical and mental handicaps, and medical problems. Also called the oculo-cerebro-renal (OCRL) syndrome, it was first described in 1951 by Dr. Charles Lowe and colleagues. In 1983 a handful of parents founded the Lowe Syndrome Association (LSA). The LSA is an international, voluntary, non-profit organization made up of parents, friends, professionals, and others who are interested in Lowe syndrome, a rare genetic condition that affects boys.
2.2.06 Everyone is busy. That is a function of being alive. The only real difference is that some people are more busy than others. You always think that you are at maximum busy until you do more work. Then you appreciate how things used to be. Everyone is busy.
No matter how busy you are you do need to get some recreation. We do occasionaly as well. This year I have decide to do the Winking Lizard Beer Tour. A few friends and I thought that we would do the world a favor and lighten the load by 100 beers each. Now these are not just any beers, these are hand selected by our local pub. Check the link to find out about the tour. Click on the link here to see a list of this years choices. The list changes each year, so get started and bottoms up!
2.1.06 You can bet that I don't mention it often enough. I do have to say though, on today of all days, that I have the absolute best wife ever! The last five years have flown by and been tons of fun. I can't wait to have more fun as we continue our never ending adventures.
1.23.06 At 03:58 I am sitting on call at the hospital. I have spent the entire day taking care of people who have been in large traumas only because of their own stupidity. Today only one person came to the OR for something that was out of her control. All the other cases are a result of poor decision making. If it was not for people who drink and drive I would have a lot less to do at night. There is a case going on right now and this guy has no one to blame but himself. To sweeten the pot, this guy was very unkind to those in the ED who were trying to help him. Very unfortunate that people are hateful even to those who are only trying to help.
12.20.05 Here I have my own billboard and I have not made many entries. This year is busier than ever. There is always something to do. The whole world is busy. I think that part of the trick is to figure out what is important and what can wait. Every time you turn arround there is something trying to get your attention. Don't forget what is important, namely your family. Make sure to spend time with them and be thankful they are there for you.
Karl IV is visiting his grandparents. This is his first trip away from home. He is doing great there and is having a lot of fun. I can't wait for him to come back though. I miss my boy.
For some more good news, the Lord has Blessed our baby sitter Rene and Clarence with a new baby! A healthy 10 pound boy. Whoa.
11.19.05 The holiday season is coming fast. This week is turkey time and from there you are starting to hang tinsel on the tree! Don't forget to take time in the busy rush to be thankful for the family you share it with!
11.10.05 Today is the aniversary of the Edmund Fitzgerald. In 1975 the carrier ship was full of iron ore and was caught in a storm in Lake Superior. All hands were lost that night.
10.14.05 There is a baby snow leopard at the Cleveland Zoo. His name is Panja and he is cute and furry. Click on Panja to visit the zoo site to see his stats.
10.7.05 Fall is finally in the air. Today is the first considerably cooler day. The time for pumkins and apples is here! We will go to the pumpkin farm soon. It is also time scary stories. My favorite is Edger Allen Poe's The Raven. Click "Nevermore" to read it.
9.18.05 (Notice that we have started using the pop-culture inspired periods instead of dashes and/or slashes when typing the date.) Yesterday I went sailing again with Chuck. What a fun sport. It is very clensing for the mind and body to be out on the water and race with the wind and waves. The freedom that is offered when you are in a boat is so much more than can be had in a car. Even if you can drive from Maine to California. You are still limited by the roadways and lights. With a boat you are able to freely sail in any direction and are limited only by the forces of God that are moving you forward in the first place. Truely a very fun sport. Adventuresome too!
9.2.05 About a year ago we thought that a gym might be fun to have at home. So off we went and voila... there is a gym in the garage. So now that there is all of this steel lying and waiting to lifted and moved in small increments, what do you do with it? There is a great website that is for those who want to get a start in lifting weights. Check out http://www.exrx.net/Exercise.html . The website is a lot of fun and has some good ideas for workouts. Check it out!
9.2.05 Another month flies past and what can we do but hope we made the most of it! I have dived into a ton of projects this past month. If any come to fruit I will post my victories. The first anouncements can be that I have been accepted to post some of my research at the Ohio Society of Anesthesiologists this month and I will be presenting at the MetroHealth Medical Center research fair as well. This will hopefully be a year of high output research. Let's see what happens!
8.22.05 The internet is a never ending source of amusement. There appears to be a city in Greece (Ellada to you locals) that is called Alepou! There is a link that will let you keep tabs on the weather there. Have a look at http://www.fallingrain.com/world/GR/25/Alepou.html . I love it!
Since I was busy when the Tour de France was on and I did not have time to update the web site here are a few photos of the greatest rider ever. Seven times in a row he won the overall race. Proving he is the best all around rider. He had a strong team to support him and was the best himself. What an inspiration!
8-4-05. I think I am going to start dating these entries. At least some of them. It will give us an insight to where we have been and where we are going. To that end.... It has been a crazy couple of weeks. Let me update you. The Escort died. That is actually a pretty funny story too, but I don't know if I will post it or not. Maybe later. Anyways. Car shopping in a hurry is always an adventure. I did get really lucky however. I am the proud owner of a 2002 Saturn SL1! I think I will get some pictures soon. The car is cool. I am disappointed that the Escort could not make it 11 more months. Well this car is at least under warrentee until I am finished with residency. Yeah!
How about checking out the website to our church? Go to http://www.stsconstantine.com/ . My son has been baptized by Fr. Stephen here. Fr. Stephen really seems to know the congregation. He calls everyone by name when he gives communion. The church has a lot of members. That was a rather impressive feat!
Check out this site too. http://www.saintdemetriosrr.org/ . Fr. Paul is amazing. He is truely filled with the Holy Spirit. The web site is okay. The real benefit is if you get to hear one of his sermons. He has a message from God that is really pertinent for today.
Wow! One more year and that is it? To do a fellowship or not to do a fellowship that is the question. At first, four years of residency seemed like forever. Now with only one more year left I feel like I have too much to learn still. Yikes! I love the excitement.
The wild is calling again. It is time to get back to nature. I am thinking a trip to the great outdoors is in order!
A great big thanks to Rik and Deo for taking on the awesome responsibility of being God Parents to Karl IV! See news page for details. We will be putting up pictures soon.
Some neat things have been happening lately. First off I went on a great vacation with my little family. We had a great time and you can see some pictures on the picture page.
I was voted to be chief resident for next year. This is a big deal in the world of residents! I will be sharing the honor with Joni Maga one of my fellow residents.
We are having a great time with Agni's sisters. It will take a little while, but we should have some pictures eventually.
Duke is killing me! Why couldn't they get it together. And why to Mich State? The pain....
I have a friend who writes his own comic books. If you don't have enough dark sarcasm and cynicism in your life check out www.deadcitycomics.com. But be warned the man is a menace to society.
Medicine is a great hobby for me as well as my job. So here is a neat link for those interested in anesthesiology. Check out www.metrohealthanesthesia.com. This site has a lot of links to info, lectures and other sites. It is a fun place to explore.
I like this periodical. I am going to get the electronic version for my palm. It is called Clinical Evidence and is produced by the BMJ. You can find it at www.clinicalevidence.com. It is a collection of reviews of the literature that is available on about 200 topics. The update it each month.
